ACH orientation

Mainstream payment gateway with eCheck/ACH add-on

Strongest advantages

Familiar gateway; strong integration ecosystem; cards, digital wallets, eCheck/ACH, recurring billing, tokenization, fraud features, and common e-commerce compatibility; public baseline pricing

Main limitations

ACH functionality is less operationally deep than ACH.com; gateway fee and eCheck minimum apply; processor/gateway rules can limit ACH workflow flexibility; not built for complex file-based bank-transfer operations

Best fit

Small and midsize businesses already using Authorize.net for cards and wanting a simple ACH option for invoices, online payments, or recurring billing

Authorize.net

Good: Authorize.net’s eCheck service makes ACH accessible through a widely used gateway. It is a logical add-on for a merchant already using Authorize.net for cards, recurring billing, tokenization, payment links, or e-commerce integrations. Its public eCheck price is 0.75% per transaction, with a $10 monthly eCheck minimum; the gateway itself begins at $25/month.

For a typical professional-services firm, contractor, subscription business, or online seller, that is simple: let customers pay an invoice or recurring bill using bank account/routing information rather than a credit card.

Bad: Its ACH capability is designed for standard collection—not sophisticated bank-payment operations. It is less appropriate when you need NACHA file upload, customized SEC codes, high-volume batch/warehouse controls, complex return-management automation, or a highly tailored underwriting/risk program. The percentage fee can also become expensive for high-dollar B2B payments compared with a negotiated flat ACH fee.

Best fit: A mainstream SMB that already uses Authorize.net and needs low-complexity ACH for invoices, web payments, or recurring collection.

Best-choice rules

  • Choose ACH.com when ACH is mission-critical and you need file uploads, API automation, recurring entries, batch operations, return retrieval, and granular ACH controls.

  • Choose Paya when you need ACH embedded in an existing software workflow—especially healthcare, education, nonprofit, ERP, or field-service environments.

  • Choose Valor when you already have a Valor/ISO relationship and want ACH added to a unified virtual-terminal, recurring-billing, and device environment.

  • Choose Authorize.net when you already use it for card payments and simply need a familiar, straightforward ACH/eCheck option for online invoices or recurring payments.
